New Suitcase

02 Feb 2010

Having had to travel like a hippie for my entire childhood and for most of my adulthood, I decided that this was to be the end of it. The Universe agreed with me in the form of a half off luggage sale at Sears. I do actually own a suitcase, but it is filled with the last of my un-moved possessions at my parent’s house, and as that particular house is filled with (from all account incredibly congenial) strangers at the moment, I thought I would take the plunge. Unfortunately, I am rather a huge snob when it comes to the idea of packing and luggage, and started out very determined to travel almost impossibly lightly. So lightly, in fact, that I refused the lending of several of dear room-mate L’s suitcases, claiming they were all too large. Naturally, the one I came home with was bigger than all of them. I have been rather half heartedly trying to explain away my hypocrisy with such excuses as “it is MUCH smaller on the inside” and so forth, but it is a charade. I own a giant red suitcase. That will teach me.
