I made this bread today. I made the dough in a bread maker, and then baked it in the oven. It was delicious.

Back to Vancouver

28 Feb 2010 | no comments »

And back to Vancouver again. A little bit sad, but I am sure I will be back sooner rather than later. My plane was two hours late leaving from Narita, but I got bumped up to business class! Although really, it was just kind of weird and embarrassing, as I kept feeling like someone was going to come and tell me that I was in the wrong seat. They didn’t.  Vancouver is, of course, in an uproar. Its been over 3 hours since Canada defeated the US in the hockey, and people are still screaming. I’ve decided to just not leave the house.

Meiji Jingu

I also went to Meiji Jingu, which is a really large Shrine right outside the train station at Harajuku. That something so lovely and quiet was right in Harajuku was sort of unbelievable. I spent 2 hours wandering around the really large park it was in.

Asakusa

After the Imperial Palace, we went to Asakusa. It was busy and filled with tourists, but I haven’t done that sort of thing for a while so I thought it was pretty fun! The temple was undergoing construction, which was really too bad, but oh well.

Tokyo! The Imperial Palace

28 Feb 2010 | no comments »

I had a lot of fun in Okazaki visiting all my friends that I haven’t seen in eight years – too busy to take pictures! But from the 23rd was my very first time in Tokyo. The first place that I went to was the Imperial Palace. It is right in the centre of Tokyo, but really quiet and nice.

Asuke Hina Festival

28 Feb 2010 | no comments »

In the north of Aichi Prefecture there is a very small and old town called Asuke, where there are a lot of really, really old Hina Dolls (for the Girl’s Day Festival on the third of March). So every year they have a Hina Festival where you can wander around all the shops and people’s houses and look at all the Hina Dolls. It was super fun and neat, but being in the mountains it was pretty cold.

Back to Okazaki

28 Feb 2010 | no comments »

Finally back to Okazaki after eight years! It was really nice to be back and see all the old familiar things again. On the first day we went around to several of the temples and shrines to say hello. Okazaki was where Tokugawa Ieyasu used to live, so there are actually more temples and shrines than Kyoto, but they are all just smaller and less famous.
